For mobile advertising, orchestrate don't dominate says leading analyst Peggy Salz

Leading industry analyst Peggy Anne Salz from msearchgroove has provided a timely view on what the mobile advertising industry should be doing to drive success and singles out Gigafone as one of the leaders in this space.

In a recent article on the RCR Wireless website, she says

"Mobile advertising is at a critical juncture. Fortunately, the industry recognizes the need to speak the same language. Now it must begin to tackle the channel fragmentation, which stifles the development of effective campaigns, and prevents agencies and brands from achieving and demonstrating return on investment (ROI).

Gigafone's approach shows that the industry not only needs to simplify the mobile advertising value chain; it underlines the preeminent importance of partnership. The end-game is about providing the planning and profiling capabilities that will allow advertisers to harness mobile to deliver the right ad to the right user and reduce wastage generated by blanket campaigns. Companies that form broad business ecosystems will most likely make it to the winner's circle."

Peggy singles out Gigafone's recent launch of the Ochre solution and diverse range of partners as one that shows "that the best approach may be one that provides brands, agencies and mobile operators with a more holistic view of the value chain".

Gigafone makes mobile advertising easy with the launch of Ochre

New digital advertising solution from Gigafone tackles fragmentation, launches open marketplace with nine partners

Mobile World Congress, Barcelona - 16th February 2009: Gigafone, the leading mobile marketing services group, today launches its new digital advertising solution Ochre.  Responding to market demand for an easier, more joined up approach to mobile advertising, Ochre is a vendor agnostic solution designed to provide brands, agencies and mobile operators with a holistic and simplified view of the advertising ecosystem. Launching with nine partners from across the advertising value chain - planning, creation, delivery and measurement, Ochre will tackle market fragmentation that is preventing the development of effective and creative digital campaigns.

As companies are seeking a more focused and effective use of their advertising spend, agencies and brands are looking to better their return of investment in new advertising media. While full of potential, today’s mobile campaigns are no more measureable or targeted than TV and online. To become more prominent in the marketing mix, mobile must be part of a seamless cross-platform advertising proposition. Currently, however, the four major parts of the mobile advertising ecosystem – campaign creation, planning, distribution and result measurement are fragmented.

“Today’s fragmented mobile advertising ecosystem creates a catch-22 for advertisers and agencies. Measurement and planning on mobile are difficult and this dramatically reduces the propensity for brands to invest in mobile advertising in a turbulent economic environment. While existing mobile advertising campaigns fail to break new ground, there is little to measure, distribute and plan,” said Gregory Khaldey, Chief Executive Officer and President of Gigafone.

The key to Ochre is allowing advertisers to choose the best mobile delivery channel for individual campaigns by utilising the intelligent analysis and reporting facility built into the solution based on previous campaigns. Ochre combines sophisticated booking and planning tools with user generated profiling and historical campaign analysis to allow advertisers to make an informed choice over which delivery mechanism will resonate best with the consumers they are looking to engage with. Gigafone has brought together mobile advertising innovators including Xtract, Vizimo, Palringo, Aditon, Yodel Digital, Icom Group, Liquid Air Lab, Sponge Group and OwnSkin as launch partners for the Ochre solution.

With demographic and purchasing characteristics changing on a campaign by campaign basis, Ochre has been built to cope with the complexity of mobile advertising.  Advertisers can now switch delivery channels at the click of a button, making sure content rich information gets to the right person at the right time, meaning consumers receive relevant and timely information about products that they are interested in and advertisers can reduce wastage generated from blanket campaigns. Ochre provides the transparency required to optimise advertising campaigns to ultimately improve return on investment.

“Ochre will remove the barriers holding back growth in mobile advertising by removing risk from the mobile channel and fostering creativity,” said Gregory Khaldey, Chief Executive Officer and President of Gigafone. “With launch partners in planning, creation, distribution and measurement, Ochre enables brands and agencies to experiment with mobile and track the results. Brands and agencies can then use those results to plan their next campaign – perhaps with different creative and distribution channel. It really will end the fragmentation threatening to curtail mobile advertising’s potential – to the benefit of the entire ecosystem.”

Mick Rigby, Chairman of launch partner Yodel Digital, commented “We are drawn to the Ochre solution because we believe it will provide us with the sort of targeting and metrics that help us plan for our clients more effectively.  Combined with the broad range of delivery channels, we now have a wider range of potential inventory which will complement our existing campaigns running on traditional mobile advertising networks”.

Kerry Ritz, CEO of mobile messaging service Palringo said "The location and profile information of the Palringo user base will enable Gigafone and its Ochre solution to provide advertising that our users will find both relevant and useful.  Palringo inventory is a real alternative to the failed experiment of replicating the banner advertising of the web in the mobile environment."

Launch partner Vizimo with its highly popular TV listings application offers the users a natural means to build up their viewing preferences and for Vizimo to recommend content.  Simon Steward, Vizimo's CEO, said: "In conjunction with Vizimo, the Ochre solution will enable advertisers to effectively target people who watch TV, but without the inherent wastage of normal TV advertising.  Instead, content delivered will personalised and targeted, based on user preferences, and provide a high degree of measurability."

Gigafone is recruiting additional partners to join the Ochre solution over the coming months, and is also working closely with leading brands and agencies to provide a tailored experience with a range of relevant delivery channels for all digital campaigns.

Gigafone will be exhibiting at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona 16 – 19 February 2009 at Stand AV 16, located on the main avenue. Further information is available from: www.gigafone.com.

Gigafone announces service launch in Germany partnering with E- Plus

London, 13th February 2009: Gigafone, the leading mobile services group, today announced that it is introducing a unique new mobile advertising service in partnership with E-Plus Group, Germany’s third largest mobile operator.

The service is branded “GIGAFONE” and based on the Gigafone Ringmate service, already successfully launched in Russia and Asia. The GIGAFONE service will be open to all subscribers on the E-Plus network and accessible via the company’s new mobile content platform www.beta2go.de

More than 20 advertisers representing industries such as electronics, fashion, designer products, automotive, arts and media will be part of the GIGAFONE service for launch.
For E-Plus, GIGAFONE will provide the operator’s subscriber base with a way to receive advertisements relevant to their lifestyle choices on an opt-in basis. In return the users will be incentivised by pre-pay top ups or vouchers, depending on the number of advertisements they view. Users have full control over the type of advertising they receive, via a simple sign-up process on the handset.

One of the real benefits for advertisers is that they can define targeted campaigns with banners to be downloaded and shown dependent on the subscriber’s profile. Advertisements are non-intrusive, and are displayed in a dynamic, full screen fashion during an incoming call or SMS, with a direct response ability (click-to-call, click-to-website) shown with each advertisement. GIGAFONE is offered to subscribers for free, enabling brands and media owners to engage with subscribers eager to be rewarded and stay connected to the latest trends and fashions.

“Gigafone looks forward to a fruitful partnership with the KPN group starting now with E-Plus in Germany. Text messages and voice calls are two services that almost everyone uses and understands. We looked to leverage this with a unique full screen offering to engage opt-in subscribers with a rewarding service through our unobtrusive trigger,” said Gregory Khaldey, Chief Executive and President, Gigafone.

Gigafone is recognised by partners as adding value throughout the mobile marketing value chain, offering rewards to users, revenue generation to operators and a creative platform for advertisers and agencies, and will be launching its new Ochre digital advertising solution with nine partners at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

Gigafone and Xtract partner to create a superior mobile marketing platform

New Gigafone and Xtract partnership enables mobile subscribers to engage with marketing as never before

London: February 12th, 2009 - Gigafone, the leading mobile marketing solutions group, has announced that it has formed a partnership with Xtract, leader in social intelligence solutions for online and mobile applications, to provide a targeted and comprehensive mobile marketing platform for mobile operators, publishers, agencies and advertisers.  Gigafone will utilise Xtract’s unique Social Links solution to provide marketers with a better view of whom, how and when their marketing is being consumed and to track campaign performance.

The new partnership promises to revolutionise the way advertisers traditionally target audiences. Xtract’s Social Links application identifies the social network structures within the customer base and finds the most influential people for marketers to target.  When incorporated into Gigafone’s targeted mobile marketing solution, where consumers can choose the type of ads they want to receive in return for incentives such as discount vouchers or free mobile minutes, the result is a completely new level of customer experience and a tangible tool for increasing the effectiveness of targeted marketing activities and measuring return on investment.

Jouko Ahvenainen, vice president and co-founder of Xtract, said: “We wanted a partner that offered a solution that overcomes the last mile delivery problem of mobile marketing. Mobile marketing simply falls short at the last mile without the ability to capture user preferences and profiles in an engaging way. Gigafone’s full service mobile marketing solution fulfils this need and its established links in the mobile advertising ecosystem places us in a great position to take this proposition to market.”

Gregory Khaldey, President of Gigafone commented: “Xtract’s powerful offering greatly enhances our mobile marketing solution. Operators and marketers have been demanding clear metrics on advertising campaigns along with the ability to ‘add social’ to the mix for some time now. Our partnership with Xtract delivers on this and will provide real benefits to mobile operators and advertisers who are now able to evaluate return on investment and optimise future campaigns.”

Both Gigafone and Xtract will be exhibiting at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona (Gigafone at stand AV 16 and Xtract at IZ31 in Hall 7) from February 16 – 19.
